Project Description
The Ministry of Interior (MOI) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is putting effort into a complete healthcare system renewal, the Security Force Medical Center (SFMC) Project, the largest medical investment in the Gulf Cooperation Council ***(GCC) area, costing $7 billion. This initiative is aimed at providing state-of-the-art healthcare services to four million Saudis representing the MOI’s employees and their families, starting from the construction of two wide medical cities, in the capital Riyadh and in Jeddah, together upgrading the entire Kingdom Healthcare structure, with a patient-centric vision. Each medical city will cover a total area of 2.5 million square meters, consisting of:
- Hospital advanced medical facilities
- An utility area for technical maintenance
- A central main Mosque
- A residential area with villas, single and family apartments, a recreational sporting and commercial buildings too
- 4 Helipads
- Separate staff and visitor parking areas
- Allied Health/Nursing school
Hospital
Hospital total built-up area is approximately 491.000 square meters and is composed of 3 different sections:
Main Hospital
Women & Children’s Hospital
Psychiatric Hospital
The Hospital is made by specialized Centers of Healthcare Excellence: Women & Children, Cardiovascular, Oncology, Neuro-muscoloskeletal and Rehabilitation branches, providing high quality services. In fact, according to the current worldwide healthcare model, every patient room will be a single occupancy room with high customizable medical technologies and IT support around the bedside, in order to ensure the best healing rate and staying comfort to patients. The total number of beds will be 1248. A patient-centric approach will create a new paradigm of health care in the Kingdom and region.
Moreover Operating Rooms (ORs) will be at the forefront too. In addition to general operating rooms, of which 25 in the Adult Surgery Department and 12 in the Pediatric one, the hospital will have four different hybrid ORs with CT, MRI, Biplane Angiography System and Robotic Arm configuration, in order to cover every pathologic field of human diseases. Finally the Main Hospital building will harbor a high automated central laboratory, in order to process every human sample coming from hospital care activities and daily external patients, in a total area of almost 6500 square meters. The central laboratory will guarantee the best high-throughput results.
Residential
Residential total built-up area is approximately 500.000 square meters and consists of:
195 two-storey villas
696 Family Apartments divided into 29 buildings
A total of 2046 apartments for single male and single female divided into 11 buildings
Commercial buildings for shopping and day living
Sport and recreational areas
In order to allow relatives and caregivers to find a homelike environment during the overall recovery time of hospitalized kinsman or patient.
The car parking area
The car parking area, divided into two separate, independent e differently located spaces for staff and visitors access to hospital, will cover an approximately surface of 200.000 square meters.
